We often hear Supercars drivers talk about chasing a setup, but what does that actually entail?
Reigning series champion Mark Winterbottom discusses the importance and challenges of car setup in his V8X Supercar Magazine column in issue #92.
V8X Supercar Magazine issue #92, featuring Winterbottom's column, is on sale now in stores with the digital edition available in the official V8X app (in the App Store and Google Play), online at DigitalEdition.V8XMagazine.com.au and in the Magzter app store.

"Fundamentally, it's about tuning up the weaknesses without impacting on your strengths," writes Winterbottom.
"For example, if you have good drive but poor turn, you'll have to rub off a little of the drive to improve the turn. But it's about maximising the gains where you can.
"There are so many different areas to work on, from dampers, ride heights, roll centres, springs etc. There can be so many ways to extract speed through so many different avenues, which can be counterproductive in understandings where the gains were made.
"There's something like 3000 changes that can be made to the car, so piecing those potential changes together seems like a never-ending process with ongoing developments changing the equation even more.
"For me, it's important to have the same engineer in Jason Gray for a second consecutive season. We approached the opening events of this season with a few different ideas with the bank of knowledge we developed last season.
"There's no doubt this is one of the most competitive grids in Supercars history, with so many determined drivers getting established within new teams. And, as we've seen recently, anyone can win on their day.
"But winning the championship isn't just about race wins. The wins will be there, but it's the other results that probably count more towards your championship position.
"So the key in such a competitive season and amongst such a deep field is to maximise your bad days. So the quest to improve is truly never ending."
