Agony & ecstasy: The dramatic tale of PRA’s 2015

204praagony

It was a weekend that defined the championship. Chaz Mostert's season-ending crash on Friday at Bathurst opened the door for Mark Winterbottom to take control of the 2015 championship. But there he was plodding around well outside the top 10 on race day, nowhere near enough to put a lock on the series and keep his 300-point lead over Craig Lowndes and David Reynolds.

On lap 102, his car was pitted in the key call of the race; the dice was rolled and he was the first onto slicks at the end of the wet. When Lowndes pitted on the next lap he returned to the track just in front of Winterbottom. He had jumped from nowhere into contention. The risky call worked.

V8X Supercar Magazine issue #90 looks at the story of Prodrive Racing Australia's dramatic 2015 V8 Supercars season with exclusive interviews with champion Mark Winterbottom, teammate Chaz Mostert and team boss Tim Edwards.

Issue #90 is on sale now in stores with the digital edition available in the official V8X app (in the App Store and Google Play), online at http://DigitalEdition.V8XMagazine.com.au and in the Magzter app store.

Prodrive Racing Australia looked on course for a potential one-two-three in the championship standings following a one-two finish at the Wilson Security Sandown 500, however Mostert's season-ending qualifying crash at Mount Panorama left the team undermanned and resulted in a dip in form for Winterbottom.

However, the V8 Supercars veteran scored his and the team's maiden championship win with a race to spare at the Coates Hire Sydney 500, breaking a decade-long title drought for the factory-backed Ford team.

While Winterbottom and Mostert discuss their contrasting seasons, relationship and what changed for the team in 2015, Edwards opens up on the team's progression over the course of the last decade.
