Wanna drive!
My friends and I are very noisy v8 supporters. One is turning 40 soon and we
are looking to get him a ride in one of the cars. Any car will do, although he
is a Holden supporter. I don't know if this is possible, I thought if anyone
would know where to source this it had to be you.
Faithfully yours always
Nat
Well, you might not get into a real racecar but see the story in this issue about a V8 Experience. -Ed
News from the west
Just wanted to say thanks to all the teams and merchandise trucks that made
the effort to stop off at Kununurra (WA) on your way from Darwin to Perth. Also
a special thanks to Lowndesy for mixing it with the locals at Westrac, it made
my day.
One other thing I would like to mention is about the lack of television
coverage of the V8Supercars; this year Channel 9 has dropped all the races to
11.30 Sunday night and replaced it with five games of football over the weekend.
I'm disgusted to think they could do this when the Supercars have such a high
profile and are broadcast throughout the world, and we can't even get it here in
WA.
At least the drivers aren't plastered across the news headlines after drunken
rampages in Kings Cross. I am a mad keen supporter of the V8s and subscribe to
V8X as it is our only way of keeping in touch with what's going on.
I wonder if we can petition to get them back on telly. V8X is the best mag,
keep up the great work.

No to turning Japanese
I am a Kiwi Ford supporter and have attended every day of V8Supercar racing
in NZ and will continue to, no matter where as long as the current format stays.
I don't really hate Holdens and even owned one once (10 Fords).I do however
really hate Japanese cars and will never ever own one.
If AVESCO lets in Toyota/Mitsubishi I will fully support Holden and Ford
pulling out of the category altogether. I will also not watch, attend nor buy
any merchandise, I will
unsubscribe from their website and will no longer have any need for your
magazine.
There are a limited number of positions on each track so are they considering
dropping some to make room for the rice burners?
I would loathe to see another rice rocket win at Bathurst. I will just attend
my club events where the biggest attendances are at the Ford vs Holden
events.
By the way, cool magazine I read it from cover to cover (even the Holden
articles), the only possible improvement would be a couple of extra pages of
babes.
Kevin
Well Kevin you'll be happy to know that it looks like Mitsubishi has pulled
the plug on any plans they may have for V8 Supercars. -Ed
Hates Skaife
When is Mark Skaife going to stop complaining? At Eastern Creek in a very similar situation he said Russell Ingall should have given way because he
(Skaife) was past the B pillar, but in Darwin when Marcus Ambrose was at least
on level terms, if not just slightly in front when the two cars made contact, he
said Ambrose should not have been there.
Once again he thinks he is god and everyone should give way to him and let
him win. Ambrose definitely had the better traction through the corner as he
came from behind to be a few inches in front when viewed from the side.

Girrl power
I want to thank you guys for producing such an informative magazine. It's a
bit hard for me (being a chick) to learn stuff about the series because when I
ask my mates (who are guys) they just say 'oh you wouldn't understand' or they
feed me bull, because they don't know what they are talking about.
Now thanks to your magnificent mag, I know more about the championship than
they do! Oh by the way, where's the best place to sit at Indy? I'm finally going
to see a live race. If they won't come to Townsville (yet!) I'll go to them! Go
Brighty!
Thanks, BJ
Stan the Fan recommends you buy a flexi-ticket that gives you access to
several stands as there are several spots worth viewing at Indy -Ed
Whingers
For two issues running now (#20 & #21) I have read how some Ford fan
thinks it's an injustice that Marcos Ambrose didn't make the cover of V8X after
winning the series.
Funny how it's such a big deal when he failed to make that cover, but they
seem to have forgotten his cover 2 issues prior. Why do the Ford fans feel the
need to spit the dummy over this again and again?
I don't recall any Holden fans crying over how Murph didn't make the cover
after winning his THIRD Bathurst crown: no small feat for any race driver.
And no Holden fan appeared to be crying over the fact that Rick Kelly didn't
make the cover after becoming, at the age of 20, the youngest ever driver to win
Bathurst.
My advice to you all: stop acting like 5 year olds, cut the dummy spits and
learn to appreciate the sport.
And while you are at it....learn to appreciate this magazine for what it is.
A great read.
Lauren
Thanks for the support, Lauren. We try to please everybody but if it's not
one group it's another. Bit of 'between a rock and a hard place' really.
Hopefully we've made all the Ford fans happy this issue
Thoughts from abroad
I thought it was a rather boring show that they put on at the Pukekohe round
(NZ). I understand the weather was no good but to take out pitstops and make the
races sprint races was highly disappointing. They could have taken out the first
short race and kept the longer distance ones so there was some exciting
pitstops.
I know there are gonna be people who disagree with me here but, I like the longer races and the shorter races, so
I think they should have say a 100km race with tyre stop on the Saturday and a
200km race with tyre and fuel or just tyres.
When the races are as short as they were in round 3 it is pretty boring and
it is harder on the drivers, because say you have a crap qualifying effort by
the time you get some speed and have the car dialled in it's game set and match.
AVESCO should have a think about that because you need to keep the viewers and
crowd interested....GO
LOWNDES...
Dave
Oops
Please tell me what the HELL is going on!
I was reading V8X #21 online (heads up for Pukekohe) the dates are
April 23-25,which is fine. Heads up for round 4, Hidden Valley, which APPARENTLY
is on April 21-23 and then Barbagallo is APPARENTLY on April 11-13!
So all the guys went to Darwin, then to New Zealand on the 23rd, the same
day! And round 5 is before round 3!
Matt
PS My friends and I want more Marcos Ambrose!
Sorry Matt, the pressure got to us. -Ed

Pick of the mailbag
I am Sam I am a big fan of your magazine and I buy every issue. I am 14 years
of age and I love the V8Supercars and I also love HRT, Mark Skaife and Todd
Kelly. I think that Skaife will start winning soon and Marcos Ambrose will
hopefully go down. I personally think Steven Richards will win this year but
I hope any Holden wins. In response to Tamara's comment (V8X #21) I think
you are completely right and they should ban Russell Ingall. I have met Skaife -
he is a champ. So I leave you with GO HOLDEN 2004. V8X is the best. Sam
