Hear The Lion Roar
Ford fans will probably not understand where I’m coming from in this letter.
‘Big bloody deal!’ they’ll say to themselves, after reading this.
I’m a Holden freak and have invested in three Holdens over the short time
I’ve had my licence and nothing is better (as I know other Holden owners will
agree) than spending a
little of your time now and again just having a look at that chrome-plated
Lion badge planted on the front of your pride and joy!
Now to the point! While reading about the V8 Supercars 2 game (V8X #20) they
crap on about all the new developments, the now more realistic graphics and how
they even go to the venues to capture the real atmosphere.
Now a line from page 94: Codemasters takes the realism on its games very
seriously! Now take a look at the pictures of the Commodores on page 92 and the
centrefold, that’s right, the bloody Holden badge is friggin’ back to front.
Well and truly realistic, hey! What other unreal features have the people at
Codemasters overlooked or messed up?
C’mon people, get your shit together. Get the cars right first before
advancing to the great looking asphalt!
What do youz reckon??
Stephen
I reckon that what you saw was what they call in the games developer world
’early coding’ and the end product was yet to be finished – Ed.

Weird text message dept
Please helpMy boyfriend of six years I feel is going to leave me because of
the V8 Supercars and the pit chicks. I was wondering how I could go about
winning a tight OzEmail or Holden outfit to make him want to stay home instead
of going to the V8 Supercars or buying your mags constantly. Please help
me! Person unknown.

The new V8 Supercar 2 game
This game edition awaits my purchase. I have been following up on the release dates
of the V8 Supercar 2 game through the V8 Supercar site, V8X and Atari (thank
you) and viewing current downloads of the Supercars 2 game recently.
And I tell you this much, it looks ’fan-bloody tastic’. There’s one of
Barthurst, and just watching the game gets your adrenalin going. So I say sorry
to Sony, hello to Xbox. Though Xbox needs to get some nice steering wheels
going, so we can truly bring it to our lounge rooms, and thanks to
Codemasters.
This may have been resolved by the time this goes to press, but what was
Dumbrell thinking? Adelaide! He almost killed four drivers, and knowing Turn 8’s
casualties, only a day before!
“VIP”, “You’re lucky”, “Couldn’t lift the foot?” – come on, I’d hope Larry
would chew you a new ear.
Kim Jones – calm down, although I don’t back the team. I do enjoy the Series,
from home and at events close to home, and seeing and meeting you guys, I think
your team is up to the competition, although Bowe could’ve bow’d defeat A few
bumps OK, not carnage, agreed.
Dick Johnson! No words can be said for luck for the team. Fair dinkum I watch
your face and laugh at how calm you looked, but well done in the Konicas! Same
goes to Garry Rogers, and team. Adelaide ’surprised’ but hey well done on the
comeback, to Eastern Creek, and good luck!
But well done SBR. Stand to be counted #1. I would’ve thought some teams
would consider using some dummy pit-in call, to cover a team’s plans. From the
open broadcasts, raise the bar a bit more.
Channel Ten gets my big thumbs up, for coverage this year! And Telstra, for an affordable service, and their
association to the Aussie V8s. So now I’m all set for the new season, BigPonded
and all, cable that’s affordable, coverage I want. Now all I need is the Xbox,
and Supercars 2 game, a simple connection and hopefully the release date in
April is good, and I’ll meet you on-line!

Rusty-ed off
Hi my name is Tamara and I’m 14. I am absolutely disgusted in the people who
voted that Rick Kelly should be fined for making a complaint about Russell
Ingall.
I seems to me that Russell Ingall is out to destroy every Holden. Starting
with Holden Racing Team driver Mark Skaife, next it was Kmart Racing Team Driver
Rick Kelly and now I am thinking who’s next on his hit list?
I think that Russell Ingall should be banned from racing for his dirty
driving.
Thanks,Tamara
We love youse
A short note to say ’congratulations’ on producing such a informative
magazine as this one. My son (Edward) of six years and my boyfriend (Wayne) are
massive V8 Supercar fans, they sit together and watch each and every race
without fail.
Edward loves your magazine as he can look through to find Craig Lowndes his
favourite driver and all the great pictures of cars. Wayne loves to read all the
articles to learn more about cars, drivers and the whole Supercar world.
Thank you for your magazine.

Hear, hear
After reading the pick of the mailbag from Peter of Shepparton, (V8X #19), he
has said what I would have like to have said and I wholeheartedly agree with
him, he hit the nail on the head.
I would like to add that the Channel 10 commentary team or for that matter,
the whole motor racing business should be run by Neil Crompton, as he is a true
Pro. He knows his motor racing and he is good to listen to (Bill Woods is so
boring).
Anyway gang, that’s about it, except I must say thanks for V8X mag to ever
hit the news stands (but I have a subscription), I can hardly wait for the next
issue. (Gee that ought to be worth a T-shirt, ha ha). Keep up the good work.
Maybe catch up with ya at the track.
Your devoted reader, Norm H
Thanks for the kinds words and nice try on the T-shirt –Ed.
C’mon Skaifey
What was wrong with Mark Skaife at the first round at Adelaide? He wasn’t
quite with it from my point of view. I am a huge Skaife fan and I am huge
supporter of the HRT. I hope this isn’t going to happen all season. I don’t want
to hear from my father the same old rubbish about Fords are better than Holdens.
I was quite impressed with the performance of Castrol Perkins at the first
round. Go the Holdens
Andrew
Bugger off, then
What is the fixation that you people have with Skaife and HRT? There are
other people and teams in the V8 Supercars group. Since your magazine’s
disgusting performance in the previous issue, when Marcos Ambrose won the
championship you people chose to promote Skaife, and Ambrose wasn’t mentioned
until further into the magazine.
Ambrose won the championship and on the front cover is a picture of Marcos no
bigger than a postage stamp and Skaife all over the rest of the cover. It is
fairly obvious whose payroll your company is on.
Marcos Ambrose won the 2003 championship, just in case you hadn’t heard. As a
protest to your poor performance I have made a conscious decision not to
purchase your magazine any more.
Regards Ian
We had Marcos all over the cover two issues before, but still, we had stories
on him winning the championship plus the column personally written by Marcos so
it seems pretty hard for you to accuse us as being on ‘someone’s’ payroll. Oh,
and we had Marcos all over the cover two issues before –Ed.

Pick of the mailbag
V8X Reality TV!
Craig wins a Xbox game from our mates at Atari
Would V8X and Channel 10 look for a team of mechanics,
engineers and a couple of drivers on TV just like My Restaurant Rules and
Australian Idol and put a team into the V8 Supercar championships? Maybe get
Ford, Holden or even Toyota to sponsor the team and do a three month or so
documentary just like the shows above and see what sort of talent Australia may
have and give these people a great chance to start a career in motorsport. I
know that it may be too late for this season but think about it in the
future. Cheers CraigInteresting idea, but I think that TV is a bit
reality TVed out at the moment.
