Stone Brothers Racing's Business Manager Mark Roworth has resigned to take up a
new V8 Supercar post in Melbourne.
Roworth, 34, has had a relationship
with team owners Ross and Jimmy Stone for more than 14 years and joined the Gold
Coast-based team on a hands-on basis in 2001.
Roworth will move to
Victoria next month to take up a position with the Paul Weel Racing Group of
companies, which includes PWR Performance Products, PWR Racing and
Dencar.
“I would like to thank Ross and Jimmy Stone for the opportunity
they provided me a couple of years ago,” said Roworth, who has also resigned his
position on the AVESCO and TEGA boards.
“It has been a tough decision to
make, given my 14-year relationship with Ross and Jimmy.
“The chance to
work on a new project with an equity role is one I have been looking for, well,
one I did not know I was looking for until it found me.
“(PWR owner) Kees
Weel, like Jim and Ross Stone, is a genuinely nice guy and someone who I look
forward working with in the future.”
SBR team principal, Ross
Stone, said that Roworth had played a valuable role in the continuing success of
SBR in recent years.
“Mark has been a valuable part of our business for
sometime now and it will be disappointing to see him leave,” said Ross
Stone.
“We have built a fantastic working relationship with our sponsors
and Mark has been instrumental in that.
“From 2001 to today, Mark and I
have worked hand-in-hand to develop a plan to win races and championships, while
building a great business at the same time.
“We now have the processes
and a business structure in place to continue the job.” The next round of
the V8 Supercar Championship Series will be held in New Zealand on May 1-2.
