John Bowe has dominated qualifying today, knocking Mark Skaife off provisional pole with a blistering series of laps near the end of the session. Bowe said his car just hooked in perfectly, setting two laps quicker than anyone else in the field.
Mark Skaife was second quickest, the lead HRT driver setting the pace for most of the session from Russell Ingall and Steve Richards. Max Wilson, fastest earlier in the day, missed the shootout after a disappointing run qualifying.
But all eyes were on Bowe after he jumped to the top of the sheets.
"The car was really good," he said in a massive understatement, "it really came into the zone, so to speak.
"The first run was reasonable, and then we made a couple of changes and it just hooked up. This is the best we've had the BA, but you can't be too confident here, as Skaife said yesterday the track changes so much from one session to the next, and you've just got to read it right."
